Aly & AJ
Hey guys, haven't posted here in like, forever! So just got back from Europe the other day, now straight back into work - can you say tired? - but that's not why I'm posting :P I'm promoting Aly & AJ - the best band EVER! I've been their #1 fan for about 7 months now, since I saw and heard their first single in the US - "Do You Believe In Magic?" Of course, I've been a fan of Aly's even longer, as the 16 year-old stars in my fave show, Phil of the Future! She and 14 year-old AJ write and perform their own music, and their debut album, "Into the Rush", is released in the US on August 16. I've already pre-ordered - can't wait! To listen to and watch videos from their first 3 singles (DYBIM from Aly's DCOM "Now You See It"; "No One" [best song EVER! Written by both girls] from the film "Ice Princess"; and "Walking on Sunshine" from "Herbie: Fully Loaded" as well as being able to listen to "Rush"), as well as read a bit more about them and see the latest pics, check out their media player: http://www.hyfntrak.com/alyandaj/fromafriend/Go on now, get into the rush! THE greatest Christmas present EVER! Love you Jo! And confirmation from Bloomsbury that the book is "a bit shorter" than OotP, which is 766, so maybe we're looking at around the 700 page mark :D YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *screams ecstatically*
YOU GUYS, the most fabulous, wonderous, amazing news!!!!!! Jo updated her site ( http://www.jkrowling.com/en/) and opened the door!!!! You have to answer some riddles and questions, and then you get to see a Xmas card from her to us - giving us the greatest Chistmas present we ever could've wished for - she's finished the book, and the release date will be out within 24 hours!!!!!!!!!! I'm finding it hard to keep control here ... And as if that wasn't enough, the WB has just released their first official pictures from GoF!!!!!!!! Harry and Ron in their dress robes Harry and Hermione (*WUB*), probably before the First Task It's just too much for me! You have NO clue how ridiculously happy I am right now! Oh, and we got your letter yesterday, D, and we all say thank you very much :D The pictures were really cool :D Current Mood: ecstaticCurrent Music: Hide Away ~ Hilary Duff | | Wednesday, December 15th, 2004 | | 10:01 am |
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
You guys have GOT to see this film. I went with my family to an exclusive screening last night, and it was fabulous! So funny, and dark, and sad. And, if I'm being completely 100% honest ... (in very small voice) I think it's a better film than the Harry Potters. Now having said that there are a lot of factors to take into account. Firstly that the HP books are SO amazing, that translating them as well onscreen was always going to be a difficult task. Two that I haven't read the Lemony Snickets yet (though now I'm going to). If I had, I might be saying "Oh, it's nowhere near as good as the books!" And I know I'd be annoyed that the first 3 books were made into one film. But yeah, bottom line, fabulous movie. Jim was brilliant, as he always is. And the 3 kids Australia (YAY!) Emily, Liam and the babies Kara and Shelby were brilliant. I really want to see it again, actually. And yeah, gonna buy all the books. Don't know how many there are though ... at least 10, I'm sure. Have you guys read any of them? | | Friday, December 10th, 2004 | | 11:22 am |
'05 is gonna be a GREAT year!
It really is! All the things coming up: ~ Aus Idol concert (Jan 22) ~ Ronan promo tour (sometime Jan), followed by an actual concert tour later in the year! ~ Hanson touring again! ~ Hilary touring again! ~ Delta concert (July 24) ~ Goblet of Fire film (Nov)! and, best of all, fingers crossed for the "Half-Blood Prince" release!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I just found out that Brian McFadden might be coming here in Feb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SO excited about this, cos all I can do right now is listen to his album! Seriously, you guys MUST listen to it, it's amazing! My track by track: 1. Irish Son - when I first heard this I thought 'Oh, it's good, but nowehere near as good as Real To Me.' Now, I LOVE it! One of my fave songs at the mo. As with most of the album, it's very honest. 2. Real To Me - I fell in love with this the second I heard it. Just beautiful. 3. Demons - a dark song, starts off a bit boring, but then finds it's stride. 4. Lose Lose Situation - A bit of a funny track, in a way. Saying how men can never win with women *lol* 5. He's No Hero - about his dad, this is a really gorgeous song. I love the chours. 6. Sorry Love Daddy - this song is truly heartbreaking. Written for his girls about his and Kerry's break-up. It's really got to be heard, I can't do it justice. 7. Pull Myself Away - one of the more uptempo, fun, romantic tracks. One of my personal faves, it rocks. 8. Be True To Your Woman - this one I already knew, as it's on the Irish Son single, and I loved it immediately. About not making the mistake of cheating on your wife. 9. Walking Disaster - this one I also already knew, from the Real To Me single. Not one of my faves, but it's a grower. Very rocky. 10. Walking Into Walls - so sad :( About a woman who's being beaten by her husband. 11. Almost Here (with Delta) - what can I say? This is the most heartbreakingly beautiful break-up song ever. And Bri and Delta's voices go so well together! Just saw the clip for the first time yesterday (check it out: http://www.brian-mcfadden.com/index03.html) and it's stunning! It's very sad, haunting, and Bri looks AMAZING! GET THIS ALBUM!!!! Current Music: Almost Here ~ Brian & Delta | | Friday, December 3rd, 2004 | | 3:26 pm |
Last day for the kids
Today was the kids' last day of school for the year. It was actually kinda sad, I'm really gonna miss them. Got a little misty eyed in the final assembly when we said goodbye to the 2nd graders, who are moving up to Fiona (the primary school section of the school) cos I won't really get a chance to see them much, if at all next year. But I'll be seeing the kindy girls every day still, which is good :) And I had a lot of fun with them today and yesterday, just mucking about, and got lots and lots of hugs *lol* Also got HEAPS of presents! Like over 20! *lol* I truly could not believe it. The girls and their parents are just too sweet :) I still have 4 days to go though, Staff Week next week. Bugger *lol* Oh well, seeing Ella Enchanted this weekend, which I'm really looking forward to, and then going to Disneyland and Honolulu after Xmas! YAY!!!!!!! And again *lol*
Just got tickets for me, Em, mum and dad to see the Australian Idol concert :D Yay! If it's anything like last years, it's gonna be FAB! And I entered a comp to see if I can win front row seats and M&G passes, too :D *fingers crossed* The concert is actually the day Sarah leaves for Switzerland, so it's gonna be a bittersweet thing. She missed it last year too! *lol* And we'll pretty much be going straight from the airport to the concert, so I'm sure there's gonna be lots of puffy eyes ;) Current Music: Extraordinary Day ~ Delta | | Thursday, November 25th, 2004 | | 1:07 pm |
Cool :)
After a long and tiring battle with Ticketek.com.au I finally managed to get tickets for me, Em and mum to see Delta's Visualise tour next year :D God knows why they started selling tickets today for a concert that's not until July 24, 2005, but oh well *lol* Don't know how good the seats are, but it doesn't really matter. Oh, and I am SO into Christy Carlson Romano and Brian McFadden at the mo! I just got Bri's CD1 and CD2 of his "Irish Son" single the other day (I already have both editions of the "Real To Me" single, and have pre-order the "Irish Son" album) and he's just so fab! I know have 8 solo Bri tracks, and they're all brilliant :D Personal faves being "Real To Me", "Irish Son" and "Be True To Your Woman". I love him so much more now than I did when he was in Westlife! And his solo material is so much better than Westlife's current album ... Rat Pack? What were they thinking?! And Christy is awesome! She's Ren from "Even Stevens", the voice of Kim in "Kim Possible", and also in the Disney Channel original film "Cadet Kelly" with Hil. She's 20, and so talented! I've always loved her voice, and I'm so glad she's finally got an album out, of all her Disney hits. My fave is "Could It Be" from the forthcoming KP movie "So The Drama". It's absolutely beautiful, and seems to suggest Kim and Ron finally get together! Yay! Current Music: Could It Be ~ Christy Carlson Romano | | 10:47 am |
My Hanson pic
Here's the pic they took of my group - I look like some sorta demon with my red eyes! Professional photographer, my ass ;) See if you can spot my mum ;) The pic's HUGE, so I'll just link to it. And I also zoomed in on the guys :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v46/Kath7/Group5.jpgIke Tay Zac and me, the demon child (plus some chick head in b/w us, bugger) Oh, and I don't think I mentioned Casey won Idol. My Hanson Experience (Part 2) - The Concert
It was at a club called SPACE, and they were so terribly organised. As I'm so sick, I just couldn't be bothered getting there really early, even though I knew that meant there'd probably be a massive line and me and mum'd be right at the back. So we rocked up at about 7pm, an hour before we were meant to be let in. After some problem with security getting in (cos I don't have a driver's license and apparently you need that or your passport, but we were only told photo ID, which I had 2 cards) Anyway, long story short, they let us in, we went up the stairs ... and everyone was just sitting around in the club, no line. It was really bogus. So 8pm rocks around and nothing happens. There's so many of us there, the security and managment plainly has no idea how they're going to get us all upstairs in as close to an orderly fashion as possible. So it was a bit of a crush as they let people go up in groups. Anyway, that's all the boring, annoying stuff, so I'll get to the good stuff. Finally got upstairs to the venue, got a t-shirt and poster, and watched Tiffani Wood (ex-Bardot) as support act. She's very good :) Hanson didn't come on til 10pm, but when they did, they ROCKED! Setlist, not in actually order, was: ~ Strong Enough To Break ~ River ~ When You're Gone ~ Lullebelle (Zac's solo) ~ Run Away Run ~ Rock 'n' Roll Razorblade ~ Underneath ~ I Will Come To You ~ Being Me (Isaac's solo) ~ Crazy Beautiful (Tay's solo) ~ Ain't No Sunshine ~ Penny & Me ~ Where's The Love ~ Hey ~ You Never Know ~ MMMBop ~ Lost Without Each Other ~ This Time Around It was AMAZING! And honestly, I completely underestimated the amount of Aussie fans, and their devotion and love for the band. The screams were DEAFENING and in many songs, particularly the old MoN tracks (which were just so brilliant to hear live) we overpowered Tay with our singing (not that I helped much *lol* I was singing, but just not very loudly, and not screaming cos of my throat). It was just such an awesome show, and the guys are so talented, so nice and SO HOT! So then the show ended, and they cleared out everyone who didn't have a VIP pass, and we were told that we had to have pics with the boys in groups of 10, and we wrote down our names and email addresses on paper so they'd send the pic to us. When we got up there, I shook hands with all 3 boys aand made small chit-chat (nothing extraordinary, just the general "That's was such a great show, you guys", "Thank you so much", "Thanks for coming out to Sydney", "No, thank you for coming!" etc. Again, I have to say that they're so hot IRL! After shaking Ike and Tay's hands, I made a beeline for Zac, cos I wanted to be next to him in the pic. Shook his hand, made chit-chat with him, then when they called us all to get in position for the pic, I was right next to him! He put his arm around me (his arms are so strong!) and I had mine around him. Then as we left, said goodbye to him, and we were all given our free copy of the "Underneath" album, which obviously I already have, but the Aus version has 2 live tracks which is cool, though I still have one spare copy *lol* When we got out, mum was gushing about the boys, about how nice they were and how good looking, and I asked her where she was positioned in the photo - she was sandwiched in between Ike and Tay! *lol* Lucky woman! We ended up not getting home til after 1am, and I fell into bed, feeling so sick, but so happy :) Anyway, that was it :D LOVE these boys, and such an incredible show! They said they'll be coming back to tour again, electric instead of acoustic, soon and I can't wait! Hanson are in the country!!!
Well, I think they are anyway *lol* They're on Rove tonight, which should be great, and the concert is Friday night!!! Man, it's is gonna go off! I just hope I feel better by then ... and I hope I get to meet them! I'm sick off work today, been sick since Saturday, which sucks. But I had to go in yesterday, and I have to again tomorrow and Thursday. Stupid Open Day. Current Mood: sickCurrent Music: Summer Wind ~ Westlife | | Tuesday, November 9th, 2004 | | 3:59 pm |

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cries* Hayley's gone! I'm so upset, I was bawling my eyes out last night :( It's just so unfair! How, HOW can somone like Casey beat someone like Hayley? I mean, appearance aside, Casey is simply not an Idol. She can't even speak in complete sentences for God sake! I'm just completely crushed and PISSED OFF! I don't care anymore. Hayley's gone, Ricki-Lee's gone - none of the others are even half as good as either of them. Sucks. The Best Day of My Life! My Hil and Mandy day :D
Okay, I'm on a HUGE high at the moment, so I'll apologise right now if a lot of this doesn't make any sense - my brain is buzzing! But I'll try and remember as much as I can about it all. Right after work, I went into Myer to wait for Mandy. I got there at about 2:50pm (the signing was at 4:30) and that was bloody lucky, cos I was about 7th in line! Only moments after I'd settled myself, and Sarah had shown up, the line began to grow and grow ... By the time Emma and one of her friends arrived there were HEAPS of people there! So then Mandy arrived on time and looked beautiful. She had a brief chat about the film (Saved) with someone from "Girlfriend" mag, and then the signings began! We couldn't have pics with her, but Sarah got about 6 or so of her (they'll be up next Tuesday or Wednesday) and hopefully they turnd out well. She's so sweet though :) This is my brief, but worthwhile conversation I had with her: Mandy: Hi! Katharine: Hi, it's such a pleasure to meet you, I'm a huge fan. M: Oh, thank you! And thank you so much for coming. K: Are you kidding me? Thank you! M: Anytime! :D And I got my CD signed: (Chix, your poster will be in the mail on Monday, but can you re-send me your full name and address in an email, to make sure I've got it right? :)) So then we left Myer and Mandy and went to wait for our parents to pick us up to go to the Entertainment Centre to see Hil!!!! And wile we're waiting, who do I spot? Dan O'Connor from Idol! I couldn't believe it! Sarah went up and had a big chat with him *lol* Anyway, so then we got to the SEC and after having some Maccas chips and waiting a bit, we got to go in and I bought a cool Hil shirt, her 2005 calendar and a "Hilary Duff Most Wanted Tour 2004" glow stick, as well as a shirt for Em. And then we waited til it was time for the Meet and Greet ... Basically we were all lined up in a room backstage, in single file, and we were told we weren't allowed autographs (:( Oh well, I got 2 last year *lol*) but that we'd each get a polaroid shot of us with Hil taken for us. Then Hil arrived! She looked great, as she always does, and was as sweet as ever. As I got closer, I said Hi to Troy, her bodyguard, and he remembered me from last year! Then I went up to Hil :D Hil: Hi, how are you? Katharine: I'm great thanks. These are some presents for you, and your mum and your sister (giving her the presents) H: Oh my gosh, you're so sweet! Thank you! (hugs me) K: And I don't know if you remember me, but I was at the airport last year, I gave you Delta's CD. H: (look of some recognition, more of the event than my face *lol*) Oh yeah! (pic was taken) K: Well I hope you have a great show, I'm really looking forward to it! H: Thank you, bye! And here's the pic. It's not very good, but hey, it's another one of me and Hil! Then, on the way out, I saw Mrs Duff. She told me, "Thanks for coming", and I told her I'd left a present for her wwith Hil, and she said something like (I don't really remember *lol*) "Oh, that's so nice of you!" Then we got to our seats. I swear to God, when we first walked into the tunnel towards the floor seating, and we began to see the arena from the floor view, our jaws dropped. Then we saw the front row, where we were, and the stage and I swear it was all I could do not to scream aloud! Scott Cain (dodgy Popstars 3 winner, and now Studio Disney co-host) was the support act, and despite what I had been thinking, he was actually quite good. I surprised myself by singing along with what I knew, and clapping and dancing in my seat, and I was rewarded with a heap of smiles and winks from Scott *lol* He also sang to me a few times, like wwhen he sang a song "Perfect girl" or something and he looked right at me and pointed to me when he sang "You're my perfect girl", which I found quite amusing *lol* Then Hil .... The crowd reaction was UNBELIEVABLE when she first appeared onstage, and indeed all throughout. It was such an amazing, out of this world, indescribable show (especially from the front row) and you tell how much everyone, myself absolutely included) was loving it! She sang (not in this order): ~ The Girl Can Rock ~ So Yesterday ~ Come Clean ~ Workin' It Out ~ Little Voice ~ Where Did I Go Right? ~ Anywhere But Here ~ Party Up ~ Metamorphosis ~ Why Not ~ Fly ~ Do You Want Me? ~ Weird ~ Haters ~ Rock This World ~ My Generation And amazing setlist, and she was 110% live, and she sounded AMAZING! Seriously, she's one of those few people who sing exactly the same as they do on the CD (with some obvious differences, so you do know it's live, but still sounding the same). And she had so much energy! Running around, signing her lungs out, giving it her everything. It was completely brilliant. And I got a few smiles from her too, made eye contact a few times, and got a wave. Plus, when she ran in the pit b/w the stage and the barrier to the people in the front row, she touched my hand twice *lol* :D Plus her keyboardist and guitarist kept watching me and Em, singing every line of every song, getting more into it than any concert we'd ever been to. The keyboardist ept smileing at me and gaave me a thumbs up, and the gutiarist threw me one of his picks (which was actually one of Haylie's *lol* but Em got one of Hil's :)) Yes, I'm repeating myself, but it was a truly wonderous show! I came out not wanting it to be over, wishing it could go on all night! I just REALLY hope she comes back to tour again (though wwith such a reaction, I really doubt that she wouldn't) because it's honestly the best concert I've ever been to! Here's my ticket, M&G wristband and the 2 picks Concert pics (assuming and hoping they turned out well) plus the Mandy pics, on Tuesday or Wednesday :D Current Mood: ecstaticCurrent Music: Who's That Girl? Chanel's gone. Boo hoo. Actually, ironically, her last goodbye performance was actually quite good *lol* And again, sucks Haylie was in the bottom 3 :( But when they were syaing who would go back to the couch, I had both fingers crossed and was whispering under my breath "Please Hayley, please Hayley, please Hayley", and when she was announced to go straight back me and Sarah both screamed out "YES!!!!!!" *lol* Current Mood: happyCurrent Music: Kryptonite ~ Guy Sebastian | | Monday, October 25th, 2004 | | 3:03 pm |
Soul R&B Night - My Idol Thoughts
It was pretty below standard, really. This Final 12 was SO amazing, so much better than last year's, but the order of people who went was shocking! Only 3 of the people in the FInal 5 actually deserve to be there. Anyway, my thoughts: Chanel - Shocking! OMG she was terrible! And she looked it too. If she's not gone tonight I will be VERY surprised. Anthony - Not as good as the original, and not one of his best performances, but very good. Casey - Mark treats Casey and Hayley exactly the opposite of each other - he ALWAYS sees the good in Casey, even if she was just okay, and ALWAYS sees the bad in Hayley, even if she was fabulous, and it's driving me nuts! Casey wasn't that good last last. The song was pretty dodgy, and yet she got her 3rd Touchdown! Only one of which was actually deserved! AGGGHHHHHH! Courtney - I agreed with Dicko and Mark, he just couldn't hit those high notes, but the rest of it was good. Hayley - Not her best performance, but she did a great job. Fab song, you could tell she was really enjoying singing it, and it was the performance the crowd most got into.
